NotebookLM Web Clipper & Importer is an independent productivity extension built to help researchers, students, and professionals seamlessly clip webpages, YouTube playlists, AI chats, and URLs into Google NotebookLM.

We believe in strict, zero-compromise user privacy. Our extension operates entirely client-side inside your own browser. We do not operate external analytics servers, user databases, or third-party trackers.

Core Promise: We never sell, rent, monetize, or transfer your personal data, web browsing history, or notebook contents to anyone. Period.

📦 2. Information We Do NOT Collect

Because the extension functions purely locally via direct browser-to-Google communication:

We do NOT collect your name, email, IP address, or physical location.
We do NOT track or log the websites or articles you browse.
We do NOT read, store, or view the notes, documents, or summaries inside your NotebookLM account.
We do NOT include any analytics frameworks (no Google Analytics, no Firebase, no Mixpanel, no Sentry).

🔑 3. Google Account Authentication

The extension communicates directly with Google's NotebookLM service (https://notebook.google.com and https://notebooklm.google.com) through authenticated RPC requests.

This communication uses your existing, active Google account session cookies already stored in your browser. The extension:

Never asks for, intercepts, or stores your Google password.
Never transmits your session tokens or cookies to any external developer server.
Interacts directly and exclusively with Google's servers on your explicit instruction.

⚙️ 4. Chrome Permissions Explained

In accordance with Google Chrome Web Store Developer Policies, here is why each permission in our manifest.json is requested:

activeTab & tabs

Required strictly to read the title and URL of the active webpage or open tabs when you click "Import" or use the Bulk Tab Importer.

storage

Used strictly on your local computer to remember your settings (such as pinned notebooks, custom prompt templates, and auto-open preferences).

Required to authenticate RPC requests directly against Google NotebookLM using your active browser session so you never have to re-login.

scripting

Used solely to display in-page status toast notifications and embed the optional 1-click "Save to NotebookLM" button on supported AI platforms (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini).

contextMenus

Allows you to right-click any webpage link or highlighted text to send it directly to your active notebook.

notifications

Provides desktop confirmation alerts when imports complete successfully via global keyboard shortcuts (Alt + N).

Host Permissions (notebooklm.google.com & *://*)

Required to send your requested sources to NotebookLM and fetch public web articles, YouTube metadata, and RSS feeds initiated by your explicit actions.

🤝 5. Third-Party AI Platforms & Links

When you use the AI chat archiving feature on ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or Perplexity, the extension runs locally within your browser tab to format your conversation into clean Markdown before delivering it to your personal NotebookLM notebook. No intermediary servers receive this data.

The voluntary donation links (Buy Me a Coffee, PayPal) open official external donation portals in new browser tabs governed by their respective privacy terms.

👶 6. Children's Privacy

Our extension does not knowingly collect or solicit any personal information from children under the age of 13.
